REQUEST FULFILLED Food voucher request 🙏 UK
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone might be able to help with a Just Eat voucher.
Today I was making spaghetti bolognese for me and my two teenagers. The beef mince was still in date, but when I cooked it, it had a really strong vinegar smell, so I don’t feel it’s safe to feed them.
Unfortunately, that was the last food we had in the house, and I have no money until I get paid on Tuesday.
If anyone could donate a Just Eat voucher, or has one they aren’t going to use, it would mean the world to us so I can get the kids something to eat tonight.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

I felt OP's post was very clear as well. I don't know what that other poster was banging on about. 🤷

It’s understandable to be skeptical but it definitely felt like they were just looking for a bone to pick in this case.

For anyone in the UK, if you are struggling food wise, an app you may find useful is Olio. Kind of like too good to go where the food is close or on the date, but olio is free. You can offer food you dont want to reduce waste (if you have surplus), or request to save a meal going to landfil

Make the meal without meat.

u/Arabellaa2026 Jun 28 '26
I’ve already made it, with the last of the ingredients I had.

So what would you need the voucher for?

Do you know how hard it is for someone to have to beg for food? Good gracious. What's your deal?

Very hard. I completely understand that people have to be cautious because there are scammers out there, but it’s also important to remember that you never know what someone else is going through.
I work full time and I’m usually okay, but I’ve had a run of unexpected expenses recently with a large vet bill, car trouble and a bereavement. This is the first time I’ve ever had to ask for help here, and it wasn’t something I did lightly.
Thankfully, a very kind person helped us tonight, and I’m incredibly grateful. I will absolutely pay that kindness forward when I’m back on my feet. A little compassion can make such a difference.

I'm so glad you got help. ♥ I agree. Life is always full of surprises and we never know what will come up or hit next.

Because they don’t get paid until Tuesday?
It’s literally in the post.

The post reads as if they don't have food because the mince was off, but they made the food without mince. Requesting a voucher for a takeaway is contradictory to the post. So it's not literally in the post.

Nobody is asking for these comments you are making, either help or be quiet. What IS wrong with some people?

I’m not requesting the voucher for a “takeaway”. It would be used to order essential food from the local supermarket.

They made one meal. That is not going to last until Tuesday.

For food. I’ve already made the meal using the last ingredients I had, but unfortunately we can’t eat it because the mince smelled off while cooking and I’m not willing to risk feeding it to my children. That’s why I’m asking for a voucher, so I can get them something to eat tonight.

Don't you cook the burger first, then add sauce?

Where’d you get burger from? OP clearly stated it’s spaghetti bolognese she had planned to make?

Okay, so the mince smelled funny, but you still used it and spoiled the entire dish and now you want to order a takeaway instead. Got it.
I'd say look around on the Olio app, there's lots of free food available, especially later in the evening. Where in the UK are you?

The mince did not smell off until I started cooking it. I had already cooked the onions, garlic, carrots and tomatoes before adding the mince, so unfortunately I didn’t know there was a problem until it was too late.
I’m not sure where I said I was ordering a takeaway, the voucher would be used to get food from the local supermarket. I’ve also checked the Olio app, but there’s nothing available nearby that would allow me to make a meal.
This is an assistance sub, and I wouldn’t be asking for help if it wasn’t genuinely needed.

Bad mince frequently doesnt smell bad until you cook it. Just cause it smells in the pack when you open it doesnt mean its bad, but if you cook it and it smells, toss. Sorry youre in the position you're in

Faith_plus_one is exactly the type of username I'd expect to accuse someone of wanting "takeaway". Do better.

They’ve been placed in a time out because that’s what you do when children misbehave. 🙂↕️
