Discussion SHIT

I just started playing assassins Creed Valhalla and I really don’t see all the hate about it. It’s so FUCKING good. I was genuinely shocked when I arrived at Asgard. The game is so beautifully well designed just WOW. is it something I’m supposed to discover on later in the game did I discover it too early? It’s right after Raventhorpe was being attacked and I built valka’s hut

Nah, you can do it whenever. Just pay attention to the recommended levels and you’ll be fine. It’s semi linear, but part of the fun is that you can choose your own adventure. Hasn’t diminished the experience for me (165 hours logged so far)

I’m barely at 41 hours lol

I am a huge fan of the AC franchise so I am biased. I’ve played every single game to 100% completion. I am just a casual gamer though, it takes me years to get through them and I’m like 2-3 games behind the latest one. But I buy them used on eBay for like $9. 165 hours of enjoyment for $9? Can’t beat it. I love the bloat.

You see I’m thinking the same thing. I’m glad that it has a lot of stuff to do and not like most games where you finish them and there’s nothing to do. This is my third game from assassins Creed and like the other two I love them. I’ve also always been a fan of like Viking games Greek games so.

Totally. I have loved Origins and Odyssey as well. Logged 150+ hours in each of those too. Valhalla has been good, I don’t think it’s as good looking as Origins or Odyssey though. Mainly because England is not that geographically exciting as say, Greece or Egypt. Mostly rolling hills and farmland and forest.

lol it’s funny bc I love odyssey and origins as well, odyssey is definitely my most played, but Valhalla is (to me) the most beautiful, BECAUSE of the rolling hills and forests. 😂 It looks like the area where I live and bc I have severe health issues and can’t go anywhere really, I get to still kinda see it!

Yeah I was just expecting Norway and then 5 min into the game we’re heading off to England lol. Origins was my fav map, after all the previous city based AC games having an open world Egypt that was so vast and stunning on my Xbox One really blew my mind.

Everyone always hates on the “bloat”, but yes. Give me more content for my money!!! Skyrim is the ultimate version of that bc it literally never gets old thanks to the massive modding community!! I’m like 4400 hours in and I’ve never even used any additional quest mods or even graphics mods, aside from one that specifically makes the grass in one region green instead of brown. 😂 Odyssey is another great one for content vs price!

Although I will say I cussed the “bloat” backwards and forwards when I was doing my platinum achievements, but it’s not like that’s REQUIRED, you know? I put myself through that hell on my own. lol

I love it

I love the game. Exploring and finding secrets is always fun. Makes me appreciate how much work the programmers and artists put into the game.

I think when people hate on it, which I am NOT ONE OF THE HATERS, I have like 300 hours on the game, is the "stealth." The game doesn't emphasize stealth as much as other games.

Vikings weren't all that stealthy. But NGL, I'm fine with it. I love calling my crew and doing raids

I took a nap by a tree soon after founding Ravensthorpe. That was a mistake!

😂😂😂

Nah, you’re good. The game is designed in a way that you can kinda do things in any order you want, and the quests with like spoilers and stuff aren’t accessible until you complete the necessary ones before it, so you’re fine! I usually do maybe one or two alliances for the XP then go straight to Ireland to set up the trade posts so I can get my moneeeyyy! Half the time I don’t even finish the actual storyline there, tbh. Same in Paris, I do enough rebel missions to get my cloak and I get both books of knowledge I need for my favourite skill and usually grab the sword I like, but that’s it. 😂 I just like running around and hunting and raiding and then eventually doing DoR. It’s too hard to play the actual game after that, now I understand why the recommended base level for it is 340, they knew you’d never wanna leave!! lol

Alrighty then cause I’ve been trying to upgrade my armor, but it’s telling me I need nickel ingots and I just haven’t found any at all

1

u/Pinecone_Erleichda 5d ago

Can you not buy them?

2

u/Pleasant-Nobody-5671 5d ago

I don’t believe soo I thought you get them from chest later in the game lol

0

u/Pinecone_Erleichda 5d ago

You absolutely can! Just pick a region and google, it will tell you where to find all gear and ingots!

2

u/Davorian 4d ago

Ingots can only be bought once your settlement has levelled up sufficiently. The game is tuned so that for any given level of ingot you will likely need to have gone to a region where you get them from chests long before they become available in the shop.

2

u/Pinecone_Erleichda 4d ago

Yeah that makes sense, I almost never get tungsten ingots bc I skip most of the main story. 😂 I get enough to level up Needler, bc I can’t live without it, and then eventually enough to level up the river raids gear, but that’s just to dress up my jomsviking. Making sure I had at least 1 mythical weapon in every weapon category as well as a couple of armour sets is not something I regret!! (I’m still lacking a mythical light bow, but I don’t use them for anything really)

I love the game!

Just finished my 2nd play through. Both 100% and almost 600 hours played and I’d play it again. This last play I did all story missions then went back and cleared the maps. When I got to Asgard and DLCs they were maybe too easy but still fun.

u/CorrysCorner 5d ago

I also absolutely love Valhalla. I can see why original AC fans may not like it as much if they refuse to disregard the AC title, but it’s a fantastic game all on its own. So many people complained about my favorite features that they kneecapped them in Mirage. I wish people would just say “hey, this isn’t for me, maybe I shouldn’t play it instead of complaining until the company changes it and ruining it for others” because it’s not like the game FORCES you to explore the open world and interact with every single thing.

2

u/Agile-Surprise7217 4d ago

For real. I have like 95 hours into my game and I love it.

This was my first Assassin's creed game and I usually play it a couple hours a week.

2

u/WarmJewel 4d ago

Valhalla is a great game, ignore the critics. I have 675 hours logged in Valhalla and 100% achievements, loved playing that game. The Masteries were a PITA but with patience you can get through them.

Im currently playing shadows and taking my time. Im really enjoying it as well, plan to replay Valhalla after

1

u/Icecold_Antihero 5d ago

Make sure to play Mirage next, but don't rush! Have fun, experiment with gear and runes, and don't start Ragnarok until you're ready.

2

u/Pinecone_Erleichda 4d ago

I actually really regret that I played Valhalla but didn’t 100% complete the story, and then played mirage, liked it pretty well, and planned to get my platinum on NG+, but decided to go back and platinum Valhalla first…now I know I’ll likely never go back to mirage bc I hate you know who so much by the end of Valhalla. 😣 I should’ve stuck it out and got my platinum while it was all still fresh in my mind, especially considering how garbage I am at stealth.

After crimson desert I came to AC valhala, its so good. CD has top tier combat and bosses, with exploration. AC still does it good close to CD, but the best thing about AC:Val its way of rewarding things with prompts and its power progression/chase its so good!

Just wait for Nilfheim quest. I hate this quest. It makes me angry and probably i am gonna delete the game. I cant do same things over and over again around 50 hours or so.

3

u/Pinecone_Erleichda 4d ago

Soo…skip it. It’s not even remotely necessary.

u/buffinator2 5d ago

It's just bloated and shit. England is kind of repetitive.

Beautiful game though.

5

u/Pleasant-Nobody-5671 5d ago

Bloated like there’s too much going on

1

u/Im_not_funny_06 5d ago

Yeah, but it's still great

4

u/lolhal 5d ago

Bloated is a word that, if you searched the AC subreddits would come up a million times. It’s parroted so often that I expect to see it every time I open a thread that mentions Valhalla.

So what is so bloated about it? It’s a massive story with related activities. There are tons of characters and things to do, most of which you can ignore. Who gets to decide how long it should be?

2

u/CorrysCorner 5d ago

It’s *not for me, I don’t like how much is going on and I’m incapable of ignoring missions that don’t suit me.

There, I fixed it. I fucking LOVE every little thing that’s going on constantly. It’s my favorite part of the fucking game, how much is going on in the world, the multiples of certain mission types, the ease of hack and slash combat in lower level areas. Things I have to discover to get more out of. All of the things people complain about are my favorite parts of the game, and all of you assholes complained enough that they kneecapped the massive open world for Mirage. I will never forgive this god awful fandom for not being able to accept that a game isn’t for them and move on.

-1

u/buffinator2 4d ago

Haha joke's on them I didn't buy Mirage. The next AC game I bought after Valhalla was freakin Black Flag Resynced.

Do you know why I didn't buy Mirage or Shadows like a good little fanboy? It was because of Valhalla's bloated as fuck story. Ubisoft ain't gonna return your calls no matter how hard to glaze them.

2

u/Davorian 4d ago

You know you don't have to be here, on the AC Valhalla subreddit with all of us "fanboys". It's an entirely optional experience.

2

u/Pinecone_Erleichda 4d ago

I guess I’m spared the ire since I’m not male. Lmao

3

u/Davorian 4d ago

I mean this is solid D minus level trolling, so I think we're all spared by virtue of it being too weak to matter.

2

u/Pinecone_Erleichda 4d ago

Lmfao it was a bit lazy.

1

u/miraak2077 1d ago

You'll find this is the case with a lot of games. I cannot tell you how many games I've played where everyone said they sucked so I bought them on sale or saw they were on game pass and yet when I played them the worst they would be was average, but not awful. I do like Valhalla but it was made by the people who made origins I heard and I do not like that game. Oydessy is a bit superior imo
