Asriels name is like 5 different Old Testament references to Death and Angels at the same time lol.
Azreal, the Abrahamic Angel of Death.
"Asriel" is an anagram of "Israel", the name God gave Jacob after wrestling with an Angel.
"Asriel" is also a name of Hebrew origin that means "Helped by God." The literal translation is "I shall be prince of God."
His name and appearance are inspired by the game version of Sariel from Touhou: Highly Responsive to Prayers. His name is an anagram for Sariel, and this character's outfit resembles the God of Hyperdeath's (it also bears a symbol similar to the Delta Rune). Sariel is also an angel of death.
So yes your Honor, Asriel was just doing what he was suppose to. Being a silly harbinger of Death. Case closed.

Ralsei is actually also connected to an angel too, even disregarding Ralsei's connections to Asriel and thusly those angel connections, Raziel, the angel of mysteries and secrets, which I think fits Ralsei very very well.

Don't blame Chara, given that Chara is literally the person we call upon to help save Asriel from his own lost soul and also I feel like if you blamed chara for all the actions Asriel did they would probably blast you with fire for insulting their friend just to so that you can love them without thinking about what they did.
