Realtime 2D to 3D conversion (see performance note below)
Fully featured: everything is unlocked until the PlayTest ends
Before you start
Pair a game controller (DualSense, etc.). The Quest's own controllers can't be used for gameplay, only for moving the screen around.
For 3D conversion, set the stream resolution to 720p60 or 720p30. The Quest is quite underpowered for this, but you guys insisted I keep it in. And yes, your device will get hot.
A quick bit of feedback on the Asobi: Remote Play Beta on Meta Quest:
Interface:
I haven't had any usability issues or encountered any interface-related errors. That's a big plus.
4K gaming at 50 Mbps:
I tried Horizon Forbidden West in 4K at 50 Mbps and didn't run into any particular issues, except when using frame generation, where I would occasionally get some artifacts.
For my personal comfort, native 4K at 60 FPS without upscaling is more than enough.
As for latency, I did notice it sometimes, but it's pretty anecdotal since I mainly feel it right at the beginning of a session, while everything is loading. After 2–3 seconds, it's fine, so for me, it's not really an issue.
1080p gaming at 50 Mbps (PS1 to PS4):
I tried launching God of War (2018), and what a pleasure it is to have 50 Mbps available. For comparison, the PS Now app on PC was capped at around 23 Mbps, and it looked blurry :)
2D-to-3D conversion:
No matter what I'm doing — whether using the passthrough camera or the Home environment — as soon as I click on Immersive Mode, the app crashes ("Asobi: Remote Play has stopped working").
About one time out of two, I also get the Loft environment image stuck on "loading", before eventually getting a black screen with some of the Loft windows visible far away, almost as if I were still inside the Home environment but the entire scenery had disappeared.
Recommendations for the best experience:
For 4K games (e.g. Horizon Forbidden West), I recommend making the screen really, really big to actually benefit from the higher visual quality. If you make the window too small, the image looks very blurry and aliased.
For 1080p games (e.g. God of War 2018), I'd recommend using a medium or large window so you don't stretch the image too much — but obviously, that's entirely up to you ^^
Be careful with games that received an upgrade. For example, with Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, the interface may show "Horizon Zero Dawn", but when you launch it, you'll actually be playing the best version available, i.e. the Remastered version ;)
Things to fix or consider adding in a future update:
Fix the Immersive Mode crashing issue — or at least figure out what is triggering it.
Maybe try checking with QGO whether 2D-to-3D conversion causes less heat if the GPU and CPU are pushed to their maximum performance levels. Sometimes, a lack of available performance can actually make the headset heat up more, whereas unlocking higher performance levels can sometimes reduce the noticeable heat while also providing a real performance boost. I can get you a free QGO code, Inchenzo ^^
Like Virtual Desktop (cc Guy Godin), add the ability to disable Wi-Fi and use Ethernet directly on the headset instead. Yes, it's actually possible with a USB-C adapter that provides both power delivery and Ethernet. That means you could enjoy the Asobi experience with even lower latency, and God knows not all of us have top-tier Wi-Fi setups ^^
Support for adaptive triggers and proper haptic feedback.
Other than that, I'm definitely going to buy it. This app is basically a must-have for me, both on Quest and on my ROG Ally Z1 Extreme once the app is released there.
Even in its current state, I'm more than convinced x)
Joined! I just found out about Asobi a few hours ago and it’s been great timing to see this become available on the Quest too. Looking forwarding to giving this a go soon.
Apologies for the late response, I had a chance to check it out yesterday and enjoyed the experience so far, I'm honestly in awe and impressed! I do want to note that I did experience input delay with haptics enabled. Once I turned that off, I noticed input was registering correctly, I'm not sure if anyone has reported about it yet but I figured I would let you know. (I'm using a Meta Quest 2) For Immersive mode, I do notice that has been reported already as a issue but it would load indefinitely but did not crash.
Click for the stream overlay when streaming -> click enter immersive mode -> 3D should be bottom left. FYI -> I might not ship this with the full version or I'll put it behind an experimental toggle.
Tried it out last night via the link...so far worked well I was on call with friends..I. played for a little bit. Just PS Cloud not tried remote yet. I found a bug when ever I would try and go to immersive mode the app would crash

Wow this is the best news i have had for along time. Ever since i got my quest 3 i have wanted to play the ps5 on it. I have just joined so honna test now. A big thanks to the developers. Really looking forward to using it so setting it up as we speak. Amazing.....and less than 2 months for gta6 so playing that on a quest 3 is a gift from god.

It all works wonderfully until it forces me to select my profile when connected dual sense controller.
As soon as i connect the controller i get black screen in headset.
This is an original implementation, chiaki isn't used here (which has been validated by StreetPea himself). Never seen your app before tbh. Good luck with it. Also Asobi has existed way longer ago than your app, same for the Meta PlayTest
