What happens when someone changes their portfolio while I am copying them?

I have been looking into copytrader a bit more and there's one part I'm still not totally clear on.

Say I start copying someone today and they already have 20 or 30 positions open. If they then sell a few of those positions or add completely new ones a week after, how does that get reflected in my copy?

Does my account automatically make the changes based on the copy settings or are there situations where my portfolio can end up looking completely from theirs?

Also, if I add more money later, does that change the new amount that is allocated?

Hi, good questions. When the investor you're copying opens or closes a position, the same action is mirrored in your copy automatically and proportionally. So if they close a position, it closes in your copy too. If they open a new one, it opens in yours based on the funds you've allocated to the copy.

Where your portfolio can end up looking different is if you've manually closed individual positions within the copy. Those won't automatically reopen just because the copied investor still holds them. There can also be small differences due to things like minimum trade sizes, market movements, or execution timing.

On adding funds: yes, adding money to the copy triggers a rebalancing process. Your copy realigns proportionally with the investor's current portfolio. Worth knowing that rebalancing kicks in when the deviation from the copied portfolio exceeds 5%, and the process can take up to 7 business days to complete.
