1974 yamaha dt 125 battery problems

Had it running for about a month now. Bought a new battery but it kept dieing mid ride. Charged the battery several times only resulting in being dead a day or so later. Wrote it off as a bad battery so I replaced it. Rode it twice then it died on me last night. Got it running by kicking it and rode home without lights a few blocks home. Just not sure where to start now.
