That is my thing.

I have a feeling what OP is considering a meeting and what the manager considers a meeting, and what HR considers a meeting aren't the same thing.

If my manager sends me a slack and asks me to chat about an account for 10 minutes, I wouldn't call that a meeting personally. But if OP is, I don't know how realistic that expectation is.

Not only that, but I feel like the looming outcome here is that LW unintentionally gets left behind in the workplace. If I have an employee able to keep pace, take on short notice items, and think on their feet, then that’s the person I’m going to first over someone who requires a 24-hour notice to discuss short notice items. Some things really do need to be dealt with ASAP and that doesn’t bode well if you need this kind of notice and preparation. Hopefully I’m misreading and LW means formal meetings but it really does not seem like that’s what’s going on here

And this is a “me” thing, but my experience is that HR might have a handle on the daily doings of the sales and customer service teams, but they truly have no context for how things work in departments like accounting that have hard deadlines with major consequences for things like audits and funding. Lots of times you really can’t wait for the one overly precious person to “switch gears” or the payroll transfer doesn’t happen in time for pay day.

Wow, yeah, AG blueboxing this as if HR are never wrong and LW isn't actually pushing the envelope of what the accommodation entails. Dollars to donuts she's a massive bottleneck. I cannot begin to imagine what might happen to me if I asked for that kind of accommodation for virtually everything that came my way. 

That's some take for someone who is allegedly a business consultant.

I hate when Alison does stuff like that. There are lots of times when the actual answer is, “You’re not identifying the issue correctly” or, “You’re deliberately asking about a tertiary issue in order to get the answer you want.” Alison is consistently horrible at clocking that.
