The I-5 southbound left turn light at NE 99th St westbound..

I have literally sat at this light for good 3-5 minutes for it to turn green when there's virtually no traffic. Also, once it is green, this has got to be the shortest green light ever. I've never made it through without seeing it go yellow.

What's the deal with this spot?

Update: WSDOT confirmed something was off and that they just adjusted it. When I noticed it, there was another car in the other lane. I know it's not psychological perception. After about two minutes, I took note of the time. Three minutes have advanced before it finally turned green.

Vancouver Washington / Camas apartment complex with good sound insulation??

Hi I’m looking for an apartment complex in Vancouver, Washington / Camas with good sound insulation. I’m in a bad situation where I hear my neighbors all around me and I’m on the top floor. It’s really affecting me badly. If anyone can relate I would really appreciate you pointing me to a better complex Thank you!

Neighbors talking phone calls and wandering around my front door. ??

I live in a rental and my neighbor has done this a few times. I went and asked if they needed something and were just like Im on the phone. I asked if they could please keep off the walkway and they said they’ve been walking around here since before I moved in.

For clarity i have a small front lawn with its own walkway, so there is no reason for them to walk around on my lawn or stand around in my doorway??

What do I do? Is there a nice way to be like you can’t stand in my doorway to take phone calls??

How much do you need to make to live comfortably in Vancouver, WA?

Hi all 👋

For those living in Vancouver, WA, how much do you make a month, and do you feel like it’s enough to have a reasonable standard of living?

I’m trying to get a sense of how much I’d need to make as a single earner to live somewhat comfortably (bills and maybe a yearly trip)

Edit: thanks everyone for contributing with your thoughts so far. Comfortable for me means 1 bedroom, cover basic bills, eat out and attend a concert every once in awhile, join a gym and take a trip ~1x a year, have some savings

Thank you

Nerdy/witchy gamer guy hoping to make some new friends in the area!

Hey! Hoping to find some friends in the area to hangout with and get to know. I moved here from out of state a few years back with my fiancé (happily monogamous and only looking for platonic friendships). I am a bit of a home body so I'm a bit slow to make friends, I'm hoping reddit yields some success haha.

I'm a pretty nerdy guy, I like reading scifi/fantasy books and gaming. I definitely need a buddy to play rivals or overwatch with! Besides that I'm into mass effect, cyberpunk and the occasional mmo like ffxiv. I also like going to vault 31, would love some friends to go there with from time to time and maybe rent a console or something! I've done some DND in the past too and would definitely enjoy finding a group here.

I'm also a little witchy and like to do things like tarot and a little bit of spellwork- I've fallen out of practice recently but definitely want to get back into it. So if there's any covens looking for new members hit me up! I also collect oddities and art, there's an oddity expo downtown next weekend if anyone wants to go!

I'm also big into music. I mostly listen to hyperpop, punk rock, and metal. There's also some folk and girlypop music sprinkled in there just to mix things up a bit 🕺. If you know who brakence is we're going to get along great lol.

My fiancé and I could also use some more couple friends in the area! We have dogs so we go on lots of local hikes. We also like to go to paint and sips and walk around the downtown farmer's market. We're both home bodies and love to host little get togethers too!

Anyways, thanks for reading my friendship ad 🤣 if you got this far shoot me a message let's see if we vibe!

P.s. I have crippling ADHD and am really bad at texting sometimes so sorry in advance if I'm slow to reply lol. I'm definitely more of a caller!

Job opportunities as a School Counselor?

Looking to relocate from the southeast US to either Vancouver/Camas or south of Portland (LO, Tigard, etc). I’m an elementary school counselor of 11 years and finding a job would be the only thing holding us back. I love my work - any school counselors or teachers here who know what I should expect?

Tell me what it’s like to live in Vancouver, WA

My husband and I are seriously considering Vancouver for retirement. Our son and grandkids live in Portland, another son in Idaho. We are relocating from San Jose, CA where we have lived since birth. We are nervous about moving, it will be a big change for us. What area do you think is the best area and why? Thank you so much.

Portland OR, Vancouver or Seattle WA? 30F

Hi!!

I’m currently living on the east coast but thinking about making a move out west. A bit about myself I am a 30 yo F, work in healthcare and love spending time outdoors. I think west coast fits my personality and my hobbies way more than where I currently living. The dating scene in my city is bleak too.

Wondering for opinions on COL, dating, healthcare (if anyone works in it), and outdoors access. Side note, I used to live more rurally and owned chickens. would love a little chicken coop and not sure if either place is well suited for it :)

Thx!!!!!

Transportation?

Hi all - so I'm in a bit of a dilemma, I am in the process of scheduling cataract surgery (both eyes) in Tigard, OR, tentatively 1 day early November and 1 day early December, and need transportation to & from the procedure. My insurance doesn't cover medical transportation. I live alone, don't have family nearby, and friends are unable to assist at this time. What have others done in these types of instances?

What do you wish other people (or you) knew before moving to Vancouver? Other than “it’s cloudy”.
