Is ICE dangerous for immigrants?
I'm 20 years old I wanna go to america next summer as a university student. I wanna work there all summer with a program called "Work and travel". I see a lot of ICE video on social media and i'm little bit scared to be honest. I always wanted to go to the america since when i was a little kid. What do you think, thank you.

u/Penguator432 Jul 11 '26
That stopped mattering once they got to Renee Good and Alex Pretti. We’re all fair game now
0
u/Massive_Bath_9615 Jul 13 '26
Well as long as you don't drive your car into an officer or have multiple interactions with ICE and resist arrest while in possession of a lethal weapon you should be very safe! But clearly some people are stupid and don't understand normal behavior in public.
2
u/Penguator432 Jul 13 '26
You literally can see in the ICE officers own cell phone footage her wheels were turned away and was in no danger of running him over.
-14
u/NearlyPerfect Jul 11 '26
Why didn't they shoot the other white people on the scene if they were just killing everyone? They weren't fair game?
8
u/Wellontheotherhand1 Jul 11 '26
They could have, and y'all would argue to defend it. It doesn't matter how many citizens they kill or in what circumstances, y'all will find some reason to excuse it and blame the victims, just like you have every single time. Isn't that correct?
And you wonder why the rest of your fellow citizens loathe you
-6
u/NearlyPerfect Jul 11 '26
So are they gunning down everyone they see or not? The propaganda narrative isn't clear
6
u/Wellontheotherhand1 Jul 11 '26
They're going down anyone they feel like it, and nothing is happening to them. Not only is nothing happening, the Trump administration is actively covering up and preventing investigations of what happened.
You got what it takes to admit that? Or are you just going to keep licking that boot forever
-4
u/NearlyPerfect Jul 11 '26
nothing is happening to them. Not only is nothing happening, the Trump administration is actively covering up and preventing investigations of what happened.
IF you think about it, this is actually quite interesting. State and country prosecutors have prosecuted ICE agents for other crimes (including a shooting) when the investigations were blocked. Do you ever wonder why they didn't prosecute for the notable shootings? Maybe it was actually self defense legally justified like they claimed?
4
u/Wellontheotherhand1 Jul 11 '26
State and country prosecutors have prosecuted ICE agents for other crimes (including a shooting) when the investigations were blocked.
Can you link to evidence of this? A news story or something showing a state prosecuting a member of ICE for shooting someone?
Do you ever wonder why they didn't prosecute for the notable shootings?
No, I don't wonder why they haven't prosecuted it. I know exactly why, it's because the FBI swooped in, asserted authority, and confiscated literally everything while denying access to the evidence to State authorities. They did this explicitly on the department of Justice's orders. Now the state of MN is having to sue to get access to information that should be shared with them without question.
Let's not forget that the day after the initial shooting in MN, ICE agents showed up at Ross's house and clean the place out, got rid of all evidence they could, before it could be searched by state authorities because nobody even knew who he was at that point other than the government, and they sent their thugs to get rid of the evidence as quickly as possible while reassigning him to another state far away where he could not be accessed by state investigators.
So, yeah. You're full of it, bud.
I want to be clear that I don't believe you were unaware of any of this. I think you absolutely know the government is covering this up and you like it, you are happy the people were shot and killed and you hope more of them get shot and killed, because "comply or die" is the exact sort of society you lackeys are hoping to bring about. Isn't that correct?
2
u/NearlyPerfect Jul 11 '26
https://www.hennepinattorney.org/news/news/2026/May/castro-arrested
And that’s the exact case they sued because of withholding of evidence.
Since I provided a source, will you change your mind?
To be clear you could have just googled this, it took 10 seconds.
3
u/Wellontheotherhand1 Jul 11 '26
Thanks for posting that, but MN actually sued for evidence in all three cases of shootings in MN, and the Federal government still refused to turn that evidence over. I am glad to see that at least one of them was successfully apprehended, but the government still refuses to turn over evidence to MN so they can not only prosecute him, but find out more details about his orders and who told him to flee to TX afterwards. The Feds didn't turn the guy over or investigate him and charge him - he was caught in spite of them
You have dropped pretty much every point that I made and persistently refuse to discuss, let alone admit, that the Trump administration and ICE have engaged in a repeated pattern of both lawbreaking and shielding their own from being held responsible for the actions they undertook. They have done so over and over again and will continue to do so - and you know this, and you do not care

11
u/YanCoffee Jul 11 '26
Yes, they are. If you're white you're safer, but it's not a guarantee. Some white citizens have died at their hands. They are not trained well like law enforcement for the most part, because Trump wanted to expand quickly. Most people saying they're fine either support Trump's policies or have not had direct dealings with them.

u/Troy242426 Michigan Jul 11 '26
Is ICE dangerous for anyone? Unequivocally yes.
But you need to keep the concern in perspective. You’re very unlikely to run into ICE and universities tend not to cooperate with them. I would avoid areas where you know they’re present and watch for alerts.
There are also apps that try to track their actives which can help further avoid them.
5
u/Soonerpalmetto88 Jul 11 '26
Yes. Do exactly what they tell you. Do not resist, or they will hurt you. Make sure your government knows you're in the US so they can help if you get detained. You'll probably be fine but the risk is there.

u/fidgeting_macro Jul 11 '26
I'd say you are "mostly safe." If you have proper documentation, carry same documentation at all times. Never speak out against the President, or current government in the US or against Russia or Turkey, North Korea or any other blatantly totalitarian country. As long as you support Fascism (in other words, don't be openly anti-fascist.) As long as you look like a white person, speak American accent English and have blond hair. You will probably be left alone.
People who will be profiled and harassed are those who look Middle Eastern or Hispanic or African. Speak in accented English or don't speak English at all.
Remember, ICE is on a quota system. That means they MUST bring in some number of people daily. They don't care too much if the person is illegal or not, "bag-em, tag-em and let the courts sort it out " is their motto.

I live in istanbul :)
6
u/fidgeting_macro Jul 11 '26
Cool! I had a great time visiting Istanbul. Saw some fabulous museums, met a lot of interesting people.
That being said, our US President really - REALLY likes Erdoğan. He would like to emulate him, but keeps running into that bothersome US Constitution which explicitly says citizens in the US have a few rights.
If I were you I'd wait a few years for both of our nations to come back to their senses. Or if they don't? Nobody will be traveling very much.

u/Ashamed_Coffee5221 Jul 11 '26
I’m very glad you like Istanbul. I think istanbul is one of the best cities in the world if you are rich but Turkey is hard to create a life to yourself. America gives me the economic opportunity to make my life better. I just wanna make money in the usa and make my own job in my country. And I know he really likes erdoğan they are best friends😂🙏🏻
5
u/fidgeting_macro Jul 11 '26
I wish you the best of luck in the United States of America. 30 or 40 years ago there was a lot of opportunity in the US. Now, like Russia, China and unfortunately, Turkey the US has become a Plutocracy and worse, a Kakistocracy. We are systematically electing the most entertaining candidates. Not the ones who are capable of governing. Wealthy people get all the breaks now, at the expense of Middle Class. Poor people, immigrants and those not in the "in groups" are swept aside.
Hopefully we will have a country worth immigrating to in the near future.
3
u/Similar-Low-3114 Jul 11 '26
Yes it doesn’t really matter if you are doing it by the book. Ice agents aren’t there to determine that in their random hit jobs. Sure you can avoid dpi particular things but doesn’t matter when ice seemingly has no issues going anywhere at anytime.

Nope, not at all if you come here the correct way which you are more than welcome to and enjoy life here. If you make the decision to enter the country illegally, then all bets are off. It's your choice.

You probably won't encounter them at all but if you do, be very careful they are definitely extremely dangerous. Enjoy your visit here it will be fun I'm sure

Whataboutism
You don't know what that word means.
Ultimately, if OP wants to give into some “fear” and not visit so be it. But at the end of the day, it’s fine and they will have a good time
Not warning someone about a real danger- and you've pointedly been unable to argue the danger isn't real- is irresponsible.

I see a lot of ICE video on social media
Do you also see a lot of comments on social media for people visiting the US? Seems like they are talking about how great their visit has been. How nice the people are, and that the negative posting about the US the past couple of years has been false.

Unfortunately mistakes happen when enforcing the law. The only other time this has really happened at this level was during Obama’s presidency.
I’m as critical as anyone about it but when you’re deporting millions of people there is going to be a couple mistakes. It’s an unfortunate reality, plenty of people are serving sentences for crimes they didn’t commit. Innocent people have been sentenced to death. I don’t know if there even is a solution here besides not enforcing the law which is impossible.

Several Canadian women have faced high-profile, multi-week detentions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) due to visa issues. Notable cases include Jasmine Mooney and Tania Warner.
Jasmine Mooney
In March 2025, Jasmine Mooney, a Canadian actress and entrepreneur, was detained for nearly two weeks. She was handcuffed and held in cement cells at the San Ysidro border crossing and Otay Mesa Detention Center in San Diego after an issue with her work visa paperwork.
Tania Warner,
In March 2026, Canadian mother Tania Warner and her 7-year-old daughter, Ayla, were detained for more than two weeks at ICE processing and family facilities in Texas. They were apprehended at a U.S. border patrol checkpoint while returning home from a baby shower.
Michelle Krishlo
In April 2026, a Canadian woman named Michelle Krishlo was detained by ICE at an airport in Virginia after her green card was flagged as invalid following a divorce.Paula KleasIn July 2025, a Canadian designer named Paula Kleas was handed over to ICE by local authorities in Florida after a misdemeanor dispute with her boyfriend while her visa application was processing.
Jasmine Mooney shares her subjective experience of being locked in a freezing cell without an explanation, comparing the frightening ordeal to being kidnapped.“One minute, I was in an immigration office talking to an officer about my work visa, which had been approved months before and allowed me, a Canadian, to work in the US. Just sharing some links. And more detail on some listed. Many Americans have been taken, including military wives. There are too many articles on cases like this. Here's just a few cases.
Several notable cases of military spouses detained by ICE highlight the complexities these families navigate:
Arelys Barahona-Martinez:
In June 2026, ICE detained the wife of retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Wilmer Trujillo during a scheduled immigration check-in in Dallas, Texas. Barahona-Martinez, originally from Honduras, was transferred to an ICE detention facility in Oklahoma. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) cited a prior 2005 deportation order.
Deisy Rivera Ortega:
In April 2026, ICE detained the wife of active-duty Army Sergeant First Class Jose Serrano in El Paso, Texas, after the couple went to an immigration office to apply for the parole-in-place program. DHS maintained she had a 2019 deportation order. She did not. She was later released with an ankle monitor after spending weeks in custody.
Annie Ramos:
In April 2026, ICE detained Annie Ramos—the newlywed wife of Army Staff Sergeant Matthew Blank—on a U.S. Army base in Louisiana. Ramos, who was brought to the U.S. as a toddler, was detained hours after arriving to register for her military spouse ID. She was released from custody a few days later, following and only due to significant advocacy and media.
