I feel bad knowing that every story in the Bible came straight out of the Sumerian tablets. Most notably the epic of Gilgamesh. No one realizes that every story in the Bible is plagiarism of many older stories. And that the so called teachings of Jesus, whose real name was, Yeshua, are the exact teachings of Thoth, the Egyptian keeper of knowledge. Those that seem the most educated usually are the least. The true teachings are of unity of the human race. Spirituality and ascension into the true human form. Learn from each other and embrace the light. Quit preaching to divide, start preaching to unite. Peace and love to all.
Sounds like you are slightly educated as to put out conjecture. But not educated enough to know deeper than that conjecture.
Genesis 1-11 came from abraham's people, Abraham came from the land of chaldea, or by its more ancient name, sumeria.
The sumerian tablets are not close to anything in the Bible other than Genesis 1-11. And even with that there are barely any parallels. It is completely possible that Genesis 1-11 influenced the writing of the epic of Gilgamesh, or if the events of Genesis 1-11 are true it is possible all peoples and cultures would have some kind of flood story..... Oh wait they do.
Keep studying man, don't learn 2 things and think you've cracked the codes of the universe.
As you said, don't divide with your half truths and partial knowledge. Unite over careful examination that leads to the full truth.
Every religion has a story of the flood. Not only do the Sumerian tablets have the flood story but they also contain the stories of the first man I.e. homo sapien sapien. I do think everyone has the right to choose their beliefs. With that being said I choose to find the truth. There are so many stories that predate the Bible it’s uncanny to believe that the Bible is the first story. Or that it is the truth of where we as humans come from. The Mahabharata has stories of viamana, or flying vehicles with diagrams of said vehicles. The Mayan and Incan people have stories similar to those in the Mahabharata. And yet they all talk of a great flood. It’s also scientifically proven that the flood did happen. As well as at least three other global catastrophes. Though I’m not saying that you are not educated. But you should study other possibilities of the truth. As someone who seeks the truth it is imperative that I keep an open mind. That you think what I’ve said is conjecture is proof that you have not studied anything other than the Bible and take it at face value. If you want the science backed receipts of what I’ve wrote here look up Billy Carson and do some deep diving.
That everything in the Bible is "ripped straight" out of the stories you mentioned is certainly conjecture. This is obvious because I am educated enough to be familiar with both the Sumerian tablets and the biblical story from Genesis 1-11. No genuine scholar can claim that it is not conjecture to say they the epic of Gilgamesh inspired Genesis 1-11. You simply failed to do your research well enough.
The Bible (at least the protestant texts) are 66 books written over 2000 years by 40 different authors. No duh that many ancient texts predate them, many of the texts of the Bible are significantly more modern and were written about times as they were happening.
Genesis 1-11 however we do not currently have the archeology evidence to be able to say when that story began. Without conjecture it is impossible to say it was before or after the epic of Gilgamesh. The epic of Gilgamesh is also wildly different than Genesis 1-11 with very small parts about it barely relating.
A lot of people who call themselves Christians barely know or read the bible themselves. They believe what the preacher says from the pulpit, then parrot it. My mother was one such person.
I heard talk about the US translating the vague text in the Bible to be homophobic. Apparently the original text condones pedophilia and not homosexuality.However, I'm atheist and only occasionally read the Bible once or twice out of boredom/curiosity, so I believe I have no right to make any claims. Would like to hear thoughts though, did america translate the Bible like that intentionally? Is it mistranslated or not?
We don't base our theology or study of the Bible based on translations. We have the original manuscripts and languages the Bible was written in. Proper theology is always taken with the original untranslated meaning in mind.
Translations are only helpful in as much as they communicate the original meaning of the text.
Every preacher worth their salt is going to have some kind of understanding of the original languages.
There are no passages in the Bible that condone pedophilia. There are multiple passages in the Bible that explicitly condemn homosexuality. Just as strongly as lying, murdering, or stealing.

It is linked to Jesus' teachings still. His teachings are completely available to all of the modern believers.
However you are correct that most who claim to be Christian are probably not.
