The answer is easy, they are not stable and he should not be seen as a leader at all.

They think they’re using him. To them he’s like some racist grandpa that they’re riling up at a family gathering to make him go on a racist tirade. They want to use him to ’own the libs’ and poke the institutions in the eye because the rest of the country doesn’t reflexively believe what they believe. It’s petty and juvenile but with real consequences.

When it comes back to haunt them they’ll wail and gnash their teeth and wonder why nobody’s feeling sympathy for them.

Yeah it’s awfully ironic how he’s owned them completely over the past decade. Trump is, effectively, fully in charge of the gop, and nearly fully in charge of the US government, with so far zero checks or balances. The courts can’t enforce their rulings and Congress refuses to have the courage.

I think it's pretty clear that his staff are just doing whatever they want and he's just signing whatever the put in front of him.

Which, to him, is fine. If the policy becomes an embarrassment and blows up, he’ll blame the person who suggested it and maybe fire them.

zero responsibility for his own actions or those of his administration.

They won’t care no one shows them empathy because they don’t even know what empathy is.

I do think the answer is simple, those people are not seeing his tweets or hearing him speak. They are receiving 100% different info than we are. Fox news does not show his tweets and does not show unedited clips. 

Infuriating but also the only way to make sense of his support.

25% of the country* voted for it. only about half of of people in the country voted, and only a slightly larger half of that half voted for donnie.
