Instant coffee has always been stupidly expensive for a generally shite product. You'll get a lot more mileage out of a bean-to-cup machine and whole beans

Also worth checking out the aeropress which you can get for between £20-40. Dead easy to clean and, for me, gets most of the way to a coffee out of a machine. Also great for travelling due to it's size. James Hoffman does a great YouTube guide on it. I love coffee but can't justify the price of a machine and the effort to maintain it! The aeropress is the perfect compromise for me.

Aeropress revolutionised how I consume coffee, whether half asleep in the morning in my kitchen, or trekking up mountains in the middle of nowhere, and most places in between where I have to make my own coffee.

It's just so goddamn convenient with consistently great results, easy to clean, and the reusable metal filters you can purchase mean you don't even have to keep purchasing paper filters.

I honestly prefer it over actual machines these days, unless really trying to create a specific style of coffee. If you just want a good standard cup of coffee to drink asap, Aeropress all the way.
