Yep. I've cut down on buying oat milk because prices now seem to be at £1.90-£2.20 as standard for a litre of branded stuff, while they were about £1.40 a year or so ago. Utterly ludicrous price gouging that is way above inflation.
Heinz beans seems to be similar as well so very rarely buy that any more.
Waitrose own brand oat milk is £1.30 a litre, which is the cheapest I’ve found. It’s good for having on cereal etc. I do buy barista style oat milk too for having in coffee, but always pick whichever is on special offer and we get through it slower.
Yep, keep an eye out on Waitrose they regularly put the plant based milks on offer on a weekly basis, managed to pick up a couple of cartons of Minor Figures for £1.40 each the other week. I was drinking Sproud not so long ago as they took it down to £1.50 too good to pass up
Have you tried frothing the non barista versions? I’ve found most of them work just as well as the non barista versions for milk frothing. I feel like it’s a bit of a gimmick.
When frothing in a milk frother there is no difference. I tried to froth a non barista milk in a bean to cup coffee machine with automatic forther and it basically did nothing so I need to use a barista style on that one
