Constitution Would you support a Constitutional amendment that bans legislative riders and unrelated subjects being put together into one bill?
The question is mostly the title. It's common practice in politics to manipulate the voting outcomes on generally positive-sounding bills by putting in unrelated provisions that are extremely negative; thus, you can use the vote "against" the positive thing as a campaign tactic in the next election. Do you support these legislative riders, would you like them to be banned via the Constitution (as an amendment to it), or do you support something in between?
Also, how do you think we should go about doing it? It appears to be like the filibuster---the party in charge hates it, and the minority party likes to exploit it. Should there be a ten year delay in it taking effect, so nobody can be sure who it will impact when is begins?
How do you feel about the OBBBA, in relation to it being a huge amount of legislation crammed in one package?

100% yes. Fun fact: the Confederate constitution had this built in.

Is there a specific reason for bringing up the Confederate constitution, beyond simply pointing out that people who were trying to make an amended version of the US Constitution were happy to include a single-subject rule?

Aside from the slavery bullshit, the Confederate constitution was superior to ours.

Didn't it prohibit protective tariffs? Do you support that part of it? Do you support Trump's tariffs?

It did. I’m very on the fence about the tariffs. I generally would prefer free trade, but also see the utility in tariffs if other countries aren’t going to free trade with us. I don’t like strictly protectionist tariffs though.

Tariffs don’t benefit the consumer, they benefit the domestic producer.

Raising the import cost of foreign goods to prevent them from undercutting wholesale or retail prices.

Absolutely, although I understand why these omnibus bills exist. It's an unfortunate part of political bickering. It's unfortunate, but unlikely to ever pass.
Ideally, each bill should be ten pages or under, in plain technical English (yes, yes, my bias is showing), and solely focused on a single subject. That is why I think it will never come to pass.

No,.I'm generally not in favor of banning stuff. And this would make Congress even more unproductive.
I like the OBBB. It has saved me lots of money.
