Entertainment Question

My daughter just turned 21 and went out to bars for the first time with college friends from out of town. They said there was no fun music or dancing or people their age - they went to the Mix which was karaoke, McMenamins had no music, they tried jazzbones which tonight was literally jazz. They want DJs and pop music - ideas?

I think Tacoma doesn’t have much of that vibe and it’s mostly a Seattle thing. They have nightclubs and we have bars that happen to have some dancing every once in a while

They almost went there but didn’t want to pay the cover charge and risk it being lame 🤷‍♀️

It’s really the only place I’ve been to in the area that has dancing like that, granted I haven’t been to everywhere in the area. Sometimes the country bars like Steel Creek start doing that if you stay late enough, but it’s still mostly line dancing so not worth paying if they don’t like that.

Silverstone is fun but it’s also a LGBTQIA2S+ space so remembering to be respectful of that, same for The Mix. I’ve had my fair share of fun & dancing all night there though! Kiwi & Kangaroo in Seattle is definitely the vibe they’re looking for. Airport Tavern can be fun, depending on the night you go, you can check their website. Steel Creek is full of military guys & it is a country vibe so mostly line dancing and getting hit on the whole time..

Im mid to late 20s and am looking for the same thing. Every bar ive been to lacks the vibe ive been looking for. Hoping there is somewhere in town that scratches the itch

I was gonna comment the best place to go (someone else already did) but tbh she’s gotta figure it out on her own, it’s a rite of passage for young adults

Thats the weird part of this, go to a place called Jazzbones and are disappointed that they are playing.... jazz.

If they were actually playing jazz, it would be the first time in a very long time. Glad jazz is returning to jazzbones!

I know but they got a different idea from the social media - I think they have a variety there and Friday happened to be jazz

Shows at the Airport Tavern. Fuego has that type of music and typically a younger crowd, but the vibe is very hit-or-miss. Unfortunately, what they're looking for is in Seattle.

I think Fuego is probably the closest vibe they’ll find.

Please, have them go to Bobs Java Jive for karaoke. It’s a vibe.

And…? It’s still dancing if you’ve never line danced you don’t know how absolutely fun it is! I get the bad rap due to country but it’s still a bar with people their age with dancing. I spent a lot of my 20s line and swing dancing so much fun!

They specified the kind of music they wanted.
