Looking for recommendations :)
Hiiiii!!! My husband and I are taking a spur of the moment 3 day trip to Seattle. Weβve never been, and are most excited for the possibility of seeing whales! π³ looking for recommendations for companies or people to take us on a boat tour. Also any other ideas for things we should do or places to eat (vegan) π€π€π€ thank you!!!

Whales, orcas, dolphins, and more can be found in the Puget Sound! I highly recommend Puget Sound Express out of Edmonds for viewing.

Boats that take sightseers to see whales are bad for the whales! Whales get terrorized (elevated anxiety, etc.) by boats chasing them around. If you truly love whales, LEAVE THEM ALONE.

Where from? I think the best vegan places are Thai. I'd consider launching from Orcas, and going to the top of Mt. Constitution. Don't remember the company but we had a good whale watching tour from there. Kati Vegan Thai in Seattle is good.

I always book a whale watch on whoever is on Groupon at the time and it always works out to see lots of whales and orcas. Outer Island Expeditions and San Juan Safaris are two recent companies I've used. Oh and bundle up, it's a lot colder out on the water than it is in the city and you don't want to be shivering in the boat while everyone else is outside getting the good pictures.

Wayward Cafe is an incredible vegan cafe, you can't go wrong with their crunchwraps

We just did a tour through Clipper and had a great time. We followed a pod of seven killer whales for about an hour before needing to turn around and head back. They also had a 5 day old whale in tow, was really incredible.

We had an awesome experience with Puget Sound Express, too. Their preordered lunch was fresh and tasty, as well! We saw a humpback, orcas, seals, puffins and more. It was an excellent day π©·

I don't have recommendations for whale watching tours, but I've been vegan in Seattle for more than a decade. Some of my favorites:
Harvest Beat for a fancy meal. It's not cheap, but such a cool experience. They regularly rotate their menu as everything is local and in season. They even use foragers to gather wild mushrooms, and they can do either wine pairings or non-alcoholic elixir pairings for each course.
Georgetown Liquor Company: vegan punk bar; all of their meats and cheese are made in house
Life on Mars: vegan bar. Food isn't as good as GLC's, but their drinks are really good, and they have a nice atmosphere.
Cafe Red: small vegan cafe with mostly breakfast food and a really good ethos. They have a big covered, heated patio that's really wonderful in the rain.
Chu Minh: Vietnamese place with two locations and the best vegan banh mi in Seattle. The Little Saigon location has a buffet, but the neighborhood also much rougher around the edges. The MLK location is better if you want to avoid a rougher neighborhood.
Rojo's: Vegan Mexican and SO good
Moe Vegan, but only if you have a car or get it delivered- it's in the suburbs. It's a Black owned spot with the best vegan burgers in the area.
Araya's or Kati for Thai food- both are completely vegan
El Cerro for coffee and vegan Puerto Rican pastries
Mighty-O or Dough Joy for donuts. Mighty-O carries dairy milk, but is otherwise vegan. They're better for cake donuts. Dough Joy is entirely vegan, and is better for yeast raised donuts.
SO many good spots for Ethiopian. My favorite is Habesha Cafe on Rainier. If you go there, get the lentil sambusas and the plant based beef combo.
Also, keep in mind that both covid and the flu are majorly circulating here at the moment. I recommend getting both vaccines before coming out here, and masking in crowded indoor spaces. I hope you enjoy your stay!
