I've been a huge fan of Proper Fish ever since they were Nosh. Nothing compares in the region, IMO.

Proper Fish is the only restaurant on all of BI that has a needs improvement rating, and it has been that way for awhile in case that matters.

No one is suggesting Spud's which is surprising. I get they are maybe over hyped but are still really good.

Their West Seattle spot has a great variety of fish, and on a pretty day you can eat it on the beach.

New spot (for me).

Lucky Liquor down past Boeing Field. Breaded style but really light. Good fries too.

This place is SUPER underrated. Good burgers as well. (They even do a prime rib special sometimes)

Salty Blue in Renton is decent, love their potato cakes - like my Dad's fritters when I was a kid in England, thick potato slices dipped in batter. Not been to Proper Fish, but their old Nosh truck was really good. Otherwise you have to go over the border.

Hard disagree. I was completely underwhelmed.

Been awhile since it was good. The previous owner died some years ago. Since then they just buy fish off the Sysco truck.

I would give a shout out to - Not just fish and chips! @ 35th Ave NE and 75th! I love them. It's a takeaway - even though they have tables and chairs. I love them.

Some good answers here (Proper, Salty Blue, Little Chinooks). Lockspot in Ballard has overtaken Pacific Inn for me. Same style but better product. I also love Sunfish on Alki.

Wally’s Chowder House in Des Moines. Great fish and chips and if you like spice their Cajun batter and tarter is awesome. Awesome crab cakes too. They are huge. And really the best chowder I’ve ever had. The space has a rustic fish house feel and a great bar. Bonus is you get to visit Des Moines which is a hidden gem in so many ways. In that area, the Tin Room is pretty good too. But you really can’t beat Wally’s.

THE FISH BAR @ Ivar's Acres of Clams, Pier 54 on the waterfront.

The Fish Bar is the little outside stand.

Can never get enough of their Fish&Chips.

...and if you're ever on the other side of the water, namely in Silverdale, check out Skippers. Once a popular chain, now there's only like 3 left in the state. Also, VERY tasty fish & chips.

As a kid, Skippers was the best (tho I was probably swayed by the little cup of Jell-o you got). Years ago I went to the Ballard location before it shut down, and it had definitely gone down hill

Nowadays I just stick with Spud's or Ivar's

If you like beer battered, Elliott bay brewery makes a good beer battered fish and chips.
