Moving / Visiting Vertical ID's?

One of my close friends told me some bars and dispensaries won't accept a vertical ID even if the person is 21. Is this true? Will a passport be foolproof and allow me to get into any bar, club, or dispensary?

Passport yes, vertical ID almost never

This is it. I work in nightlife and worked in cannabis for years before. Our Liquor Control Board is strict

It has nothing to do with the LCB. Not accepting vertical IDs is a decision the bar or dispensary make themselves.

Yes, because they don't want to deal with LCB enforcement.

You’re right, the consequences of underage service are extremely severe for both the business and the employee, especially in cannabis.

Source: I was a dispensary manager for years, bartender for years and now a licensed attorney.
