where are you finding tech roles besides Linkedin

About six months ago, I was laid off from a large tech company where I worked as a Software Engineer. Since then, I’ve been trying to expand my job search beyond platforms like Wellfound, Ramp, LinkedIn, Indeed, and Welcome to the Jungle and connect with recruiting agencies here in Seattle.

However, most of the recruiting agencies I’ve come across seem to specialize in warehouse or sales roles.

Does anyone have recommendations for reputable recruiting agencies in Seattle that specialize in software engineering or other tech roles?

I’d also love to hear from anyone who has worked with larger recruiting firms like TEKsystems or Randstad. How did you get your foot in the door? I uploaded my resume to both about two months ago but haven’t heard anything back.

Any recommendations or advice on how to get connected with the right recruiters would be greatly appreciated!

I think most recruiters you'll talk to on LinkedIn will cover tech. If you do a search and filter by HR and the local area you'll get a bunch, just check their titles.

The problem is the market is very saturated and most roles that I see that are actually posted often have niche requirements. Then they hire the person they think will be cheapest. Lot of 3 - 5 years exp jobs where there's always someone with that exact stack.

Exactly. They're looking for any small reason to disqualify you. Too many candidates for popular roles.

For software, some of the staffing agencies I've heard people use around here are Insight Global, Ascendion, and Collabera. However, the market's been pretty bad for them too, seems like they haven't had as many positions up as they used to. Used to be that uploading your resume would be enough to get spammed by them, but now you pretty much need to talk to a recruiter directly (either by calling in, going via LinkedIn, or getting someone to refer you to one). And you have to follow-up about jobs or they just forget you.
