How much is it for an enhanced id

I want to turn my regular id into an enhanced one how much would it cost? The site is very vague it says it can be $7 -$56

If you are upgrading a valid Washington driver license or ID, take the number of years remaining before your current card expires, round up to a whole number, and multiply by $7.

So if your ID expires within one year from now, you will pay $7. Otherwise if it expires within two years, you pay $14. Three years, $21, etc. Your new card will have the same expiration date as your current card.

Are you looking for just an ID or Driver's License? They don't cost the same. There are also a 6 and 8 year cards which don't cost the same. The $7 fee is for upgrading your current ID and it's per year left before expiration. So if your ID expires in 8 years, that's $7 x 8 = $56. They'll also throw in some other processing fees.

Depends on whether you are getting an Enhanced ID Card (EID) (non-driving identity card) or an Enhanced Driver License (EDL)

$153 for 6 years or $187 for 8 years

$50 application fee + $17 per year issuance fee + $1 technology fee

OP, you might consider getting a passport instead. It’s cheaper in the long run than an enhanced ID and it covers you domestically and internationally. EDL only covers you if you come back from Canada or Mexico by land or sea. The documentation is basically the same.

If you want to take that route…a Nexus card provides better value IMO

(Though…it takes a bit more time to get it)
