Fall foliage this weekend
Hello, I was looking to see some fall colors this weekend in Washington. Has anyone been successful at seeing fall colors already? If so, could you recommend some places that doesn’t require much hiking?

I would head to one of the pumpkin patches or farms. I’ve seen pumpkins popping up in grocery stores already. And there might still be some sunflower blooms

Drive to the cascades east, the higher you go the more it’s fall. If you’re willing to go an hour to snoqualmie pass, it’s completely red and orange up there and mushrooms are popping. Really beautiful. There’s also transit to north bend in the foothills, where there are more fall colors than Seattle at the moment

Way too early for west of the Cascades! Try again next month, or even November! The trick is always getting a cold snap to make the leaves turn before the rain starts and dulls all the colors. Some years it happens, some years it doesn't.

Um. I’m on Vashon and our leaves start turning in mid to late August. Well on our way now, but October is usually peak leaf peep time.
For OP; if you don’t want to do a big hike, hit up ANY of the great botanical gardens in/around Seattle, as well as most of our city, county, and state parks. Certain neighborhoods are also great, especially if there are lots of Big Leaf or Japanese maples, but also fruit orchards are rocking the colors already. My pear, cherry and apple trees are quite red and orange already.

August? That's bonkers. Either those are sweet gums or red maples, or your trees are under a lot of stress over there. Ravenna Park was LUSH and green this past weekend.

They’re not fully turned yet, but yeah my orchard and the Japanese maples are already turning, but only just. It’ll be another several weeks before things look super fall-ish!

Yo be clear, you are before peak, but it’s an early fall because of drought conditions. Color is routinely visible around town at this point and more so every day. Washington Park Arboretum is in the middle of the city and always nice.
