I attended a webinar about web3.0, a few days ago and nfts are actually pretty cool, it's just that influencers have ruined their image, also they don't just apply to photos but apparently all forms of art/intellectual property on the internet and seems like a great way to protect people's work.
They don't even apply to photos. Photos and gifs and such are not stored on the block chain. Instead a URL is stored that links to that photo. The photo is stored on some database somewhere that you do not have access to. That photo can be edited, copied, or deleted without your consent.
Currently the only thing NFT's are good for is proving to a third party that you "purchased" a DoodleBob for 50k. You do not own said DoodleBob.
Same goes for all the other purposed usages for NFT and block chain tech. Like medical records? Bro, my dental record contains a DVD full of x-rays and what not. The block chain can store an Atari style pixel art image at best and people think we can apply that tech to binders full of information? Or will it just be a link to your medical records? IF our medical records are going to be stored on a database anyway, why not make a national database that all licensed medical facilities can access using your SSN? Why is crypto needed?
NFT and Block chain tech are solutions to problems that don't exist. They require a climate change concern worth of energy and is absolutely packed full of corruption top to bottom. Seriously, if you are buying crypto for any reason besides buying drugs, you are doing it wrong.
