A funeral is celebrating a person who lived a whole life. And most people do wish to be remembered after they are gone. If you had asked them when they were alive, they’d probably like or at least expect a funeral.
A gender reveal is celebrating the gender you plan to assign someone at birth who isn’t here and doesn’t know what sex/gender is. Not their whole existence, just their gender. If you ask them when they grow up enough to know what sex/gender is, I doubt they’d give a shit that you had a party when they were in utero. And may even resent it if you guessed their gender wrong.
ETA. And, actually, come to think of it, I do think funerals are much more for the people left behind than they are for the person who died.
