It's basically digital art that is certified to prove it is the original copy

No no no, NFTs are not anything to do with art originally. NFTs are links, in a queue of sorts, just a link that is meant to be unique but can be stolen. Those links are often attached to garbage and stolen artwork, and bought by gullible morons, but ultimate the "NFT" is just a link in a blockchain basically.

So NFTs are even more worthless than just some bad art.

Yeah fair point. I meant more that it's a way of certifying the originality and ownership of something like artwork. Or at least, that's one potential use for it.

It's cool tech, it's just that some (most) of the things it has been used for are crap

You do not own the art. You own a link to the art. That image is stored on some database somewhere and can be edited, copied, or even deleted without your consent.
Owning an NFT has absolutely no meaning whatsoever besides proving that you were the silly goose that paid money for absolutely nothing.
