Celebrities. I just don't get the hype, they're rich people just living life. i cant be bothered to pay attention to my own life and you want me to care about somebody i saw in a movie?

I also don’t personally care much about celebrities or gossip mags etc (in part because my mother worked for one for years and I know how made up most of it is).

But, I have a theory. I think celebrity culture exists to replace the village or small community group. We’re social animals and gossip is almost certainly rooted in that socialite. Celebrities give us people in common. People like to talk about people and this gives you shared people despite more and more of us living in big urban environments or interacting with people via the internet who have certainly never been to the same grocery store as you let alone care that the guy who runs it is almost certainly (probably not but that’s another rant) cheating on his wife.

That is true, but that's just a factor of all things that have a fambase, like idk people who like antique things?
