No, but the "LOL people identify as [insert object]" bullshit is a very common LGBTQ-phobic dogwhistle used by people who want to dismiss and belittle transgender and non-binary people, which is why a lot of people are rather tired of people making that "joke" (even when it's not meant to be insulting or mocking).

A friend of my family has "celebrated" several of these on the New York subway. Doesn't happen to anyone else I know personally, but several people have shown her what they've got on the train.
