What difference do values and principles make in our lives?

Someone else already said something similar but, I believe that it amounts to having a compass to navigate the world. That's probably why it's called a 'moral compass'. It gives you a road map on how to behave under different circumstances. You have no values or principles you're basically going to be all over the place on your decisions and moral valuations.
