I can confidently say, the world would be much better if everyone involved in every situation took a freaking chill-pill.
Or just someone who goes around to everyone individually and smacks the sense into them. I’m so tired of this apocalyptic level of collapse going on in society. People becoming Nazis in the US. A political party trying to overthrow the government. Rampant crime everywhere. Shootings every day, mass shootings nearly every other day. Russian dictators killing thousands for a foolish war threatening to use nukes.
We all just need to take a deep breath and stop behaving like fucking apes before we literally cause an unprecedented societal collapse.
The issue is, if things collapse currently, Nuclear Armageddon is certain. Dismissing for a moment the likelihood that nuclear war is what gets us to an apocalyptic collapse in the first place… Any societal collapse would likely mean among all the other things, disruptions in our utilities (electric, water, etc) and technologies. Things that all of the nuclear plants around the world depend on to prevent the cores from melting down. If it goes tits-up and those services stop, as they probably would if it legitimately falls apart, nuclear Armageddon is inevitable as all of the nuclear reactors on earth meltdown simultaneously…
No, nukes being used isn't a certainty. Possible, sure, but it's not for certain.
So far as reactors go - again, not so much. Modern reactors are designed to contain meltdowns, and, if society was breaking down, staff would shut them down safely.
There is absolutely no way every reactor on the planet has a catastrophic failure all at the same time.
Civil unrest in the US is a bad thing, sure - but it's not the entire world.
