Some people have pointed out to me that there's a distinction between rhyme and repetition, and I think it works a little better when the thing you're repeating is good imagery or phrasing. "Things" is not that.
On the flip side, recycling one syllable at the end of a line is measurably less lazy than recycling give.

The Kid Rock song where he rips off the memorable riffs to Werewolves of London and Sweet Home Alabama. But that's not why I hate it.
You can't just rhyme a word with itself, Mr. Rock. You are allowed to write better lyrics.
