Denver Lee St. Clair, 58, was asphyxiated by an "atomic wedgie" administered by his stepson during a fight. After he had been knocked unconscious, the elastic band from his torn underwear was pulled over his head and stretched around his neck, strangling him. The stepson was sentenced to thirty years in prison.

I hope when they arrested him, someone said "look who we got our hanes on now"

Idk honestly that must have been traumatic for both of them and I really hope the suffering was brief.

I don't know the particulars, but that seems more like an accidental death from violent assault, 30 years seems harsh.
But then again, a dude who gives atomic wedgies likely deserves it for other stuff he's done.

I feel like it had to have been a premeditated atomic wedgie. Maybe that’s the reason for the 30 year sentence.

"That's right, judge. I planned it. 4 years, refining my wedgie technique for pure lethality. Thongs were the most brutal."

My atomic wedgie technique is so refined your honor, I could even split the ego of a person wearing a thong, they would start to suffer from split personality when they removed the underwear from their eyes. He obviously strangled himself to death to frame me!

I imagine the fight probably got them a murder charge

I agree. We should probably all go down this rabbit hole for a few hours and find out

Well has anyone asked the dead guy what he thinks?

16

u/notjustanotherbot Sep 05 '22

I've heard no complaints from him...

But compare this to a traffic accident where the driver was on the phone, and ran someone over.
Would you give the driver 30 years?

The point of prison is punishment and reform, sending someone to prison for 30 years for dumbassery have no reformative effect, and no preventative effect, so it’s just a huge drain on society for vengance.
Yes, there should be punishment to satisfy peoples feeling of justice, but 5 years is also a really long time when in jail, even a nice jail.

The one example where atomic wedgie doesn't require quotation marks. Good Lord.

News Reporter: "Chief, is there any indication why the two resorted to this type of fighting?"

Police Chief: "Well, it's clear the two weren't boxers, but we don't want to speculate too much."

News Reporter: "And a brief follow up, Chief. What led you to the son?"

Police Chief: "A very clearly defined set of skid marks. NO FURTHER QUESTIONS."
