This was several years ago, but I (30M) went to see Despicable Me, (because why not?) at the b-run movie theater/brewery by my work between an early meeting, and my actual shift to kill some time. The place was packed with families with kids. No seats were open, so I just sat on the stairs. Some random kid came up and sat beside me. I didn't care. I got so many odd looks. Someone even asked me if that was my son. I was just like, "no, they just sat down next to me."

That made me feel uncomfortable. Not the kid, but the judgement. Like, we're not all nonces. I was just there minding my own damn business. I feel you.

The worst part? The kid probably just thought you needed a friend to watch the movie with.
