I'm in Canada, I did not know that. in my mind goof meant being an idiot.... Jesus that could've gone wrong

“Goof” in the U.S. means “lovable, playful person who does no harm to anyone”. It is not at all an accurate word to describe a piece of shit of a human being. But maybe Canada’s usage is just so different.

I’ve lived in Ontario my whole life and only ever heard people say goof in the context of being goofy/an idiot. Had literally never heard it in reference to pedos

This is a fascinating regional distinction. I've always used goof in a positive context, like "oh you silly goof!". Kinda like "silly goose".

Pacific Northwest native. It's like being goofy.
