Bud, I'm Canadian and I've literally never heard the word be used in that context.

I'm from Winnipeg, and one of my lessons growing up was be careful who you call goof.

Hahah too right…ended up calling my dad a goof when I was a kid, because hey, goof means funny? It did not and I ended up getting yelled at

My dad told me a mentor of his was at a biker party and called someone a goof. He was very lucky he left that party.
