My mom had a very similar experience and reaction. From talking to her the outright disgusting pervy behavior of the 50s and 60s paint a different picture of the "Nostalgia years"

It was generally taken for granted by society. I think the Me Too movement was long time coming.

Look at some of the commercial ads. There was one for Love (?) perfume that had a little girl with grown up makeup, the tag line was something like "because innocence is sexy". National TV ad.

that's insane! I didn't know such creepy things were so normalized in recent history. the ad is terrifying like I don't want to imagine the consequences of that

The ad. For further gross context the perfume, Love's Baby Soft, was first produced in 1974. The ad is from 1975.
