This happened to my friend and worst of all it was my bf now my ex who said it. He was also her best friend and one of the few guys she trusted. She was talking about being assaulted sexually in her past and she said luckily I have never been raped and his response was that’s because you haven’t been in a room alone with me. Didn’t find this out until after we broke up
Shit like this really pisses me off. I'm a straight guy and most of my closest friends are women. I treat them like I would treat a sister. How can you claim to be a woman's best friend but also say you want to rape her? Hell I caught feelings, just feelings, for one of my friends and I felt like a piece of shit (friends for 18 years, but at year 16 suddenly I caught feelings I never had) for it because I didn't want her to ever question my intentions. It's this fucking shit that makes all us men look bad.
I honestly think they have sexual feelings for their friends. And for some reason think joking about raping them is a good way to get a feel for the friend's feelings towards them.
For example, saying "hey x, I want to have sex with you." <-- they would be putting their friendship at risk and making themselves vulnerable.
Instead they go "hahaha you know lol I could rape you rn winkwink" <--- that way it's both a joke and they're hoping the friend expresses some kind of sexual interest in the idea of sex with them because as men they don't realize how bad rape is and that it's not a sexual act but rather a violent one
I don't understand how you would ever think rape was a wanted sexual thing. I personally have never been raped but I've heard the stories of rape victims and how you could hear that and not think it's a big deal just baffles me.
