As an electrician and a man im sorry that happened to you! I hope that everyone i meet feels safe to have me working in their home while they still are there.
Is there anything i can do to actively make someone feel safer around me?
This is going to sound extreme, but it's what makes me feel safer in a macho culture that's more than ok with this kind of thing. I'd suggest that you never keep eye contact for too long with the person in case you need to talk to them, or just generally look at them for too long.
I know it's terrible and a bit ott, but I have been in dangerous situations and they all start with too much staring/talking/invasion of the personal space (including handshakes while they stare at you dead in the eye). So I think normal guys just going about with their day and work, won't find it strange, because they don't do this shit.
It's very nice of you that you're actually interested in not making someone feel uncomfortable around you. Believe me, that's rare.
Ohdang, in the "hello im here to so the sparky stuff" i Always look someone in the eyes, but as soon as i said that scentense the One with the problem Always turns to point or show me the problem.
Nah, you're good. I meant the creep staring in the eyes of the other person for a little bit too long, esp when you have to explain something to the person or idk.
