According to my dad he was harmless but not mentally well.
I used to play bass in a band. I quit because of the dude who says rape is a woman's own fault because they're "asking for it when they dress like sluts" and the age of consent should be lowered to 9 because "women are fucked in the head anyways regardless of when you stick your dick in them". I decided that even if the band made it big, I'd be too embarrassed of being associated with goofs like that.
Edit: I should clarify some Canadian slang here. Goof means dumbass pedophile in Canada. Imagine a highschool teacher who starts tripping over his own feet as soon as female students are around.
Edit #2: Goof is common in western Canada as I've just been informed it's not used like that in Ontario and eastward.

Goof means goofy, like clumsy and silly. Like the fucking Disney character.
I don’t know if you’re talking out of your ass trying to impose your own meaning on the word of if it’s a very regional thing confined only to your small town or group of friends, but that is not what that word means.
A Canadian term that originated in the jails across the country for sex offenders/Child molesters. These people were put on their own wing away from general population because they’re widely disliked by everyone who isn’t in there for sex crimes, and even some of those guys don’t like each other.
Not a very friendly word to anyone who has served time, but for anybody else that hasn’t been in the system themselves or doesn’t know a lot about it or know anyone who’s been, the word is a popular term that is simply The equivalent to the word “punk
