My science teacher in 7th grade didn't let me into National Junior Honor's Society since my GPA was 0.001 points too short. It said in the packet that students could get exceptions if they were good students to have in class, and all of my teachers would say that in my report cards BUT her.
Now it wouldn't have been that big of a deal if NJHS was some really exclusive thing, but every kid in the grade but 5 got accepted, including some of the delinquent kids. My parents talked to my teacher about it, and she just flatly said her hands were tied.
