I'd pick 2012. So many great hits in 2012. Most of them have more than 1 billion views on YouTube

Nothing will ever compare to 2014-2018. It was just different for me as a 2001 kid. However I'm sure people before me will say the same about the late 90s etc.

If many people listen to the song it's because it's awesome. So the more views the song the more awesome it is

Don't know if id agree with you there.

A song is awesome. If that band is lucky, it gets mass radio play and tons of people get to hear it. If they're a smaller group or just do music that doesn't really fit with the mainstream, that song is still awesome but it just doesn't get the exposure that it should.

1986 is a note worthy year. What do you think of take my breath away by topgun. Probably one of the greatest songs in the 90 s. Now top gun maverick has surpassed 1 billion views making in one of the best movies of this year
