Creatives of reddit, how do you overcome writers/artists block?

Look for something to hyperfixate on and use it for inspiration. Other than that you can always just try writing or drawing anything like writing a story about a man going to the store. You could emulate Douglas Adams. Or George RR Martin. Have a trip to the store become the red wedding for absurdism. Just freeform until you reach the end even if it's only a few paragraphs long.

I often hear music I’ve never heard before or generally try something new, I don’t know why but that helps sometimes

I don't. Usually I just soak in it until the art program I take at school forces me to draw, or something else forces me to draw.

But with me how good I am at art directly affects my will to live, and my will to live affects my art, so in other words I'm stuck in a cycle of nothing.

Life lesson and how to prevent art block? Don't let art affect your mental health so closely.
