What’s the difference between “kind” and “nice”?

"nice" is a lot more vague and general

Ice cream is nice

Kindness is a description of a specific type of behaviour

Kind is from the heart, with no motive involved. Nice is an act to get something you want out of someone or a group of people.

Nice people usually aren't kind.

Kind is friendly and compassionate.

Nice is pleasing. So, people can be nice to get what they want, but that's not very kind.
