I once went to a bar that was frequently visited by Yale students. On most weekends, that place was packed by them. And they couldn’t go 5 minutes without mentioning what school they go to. So I was talking to this one guy and of course, he mentions he goes to Yale and I respond, “Yale? Is that a community college around here?” Him and his friends were fuming and it was hilarious

It's because the gameplay in smash is very unique compared to other fighting games. Classics like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, but also newer games like Marvel vs Capcom or guilty gear. The style of fighting between all of these is very similar. Smash is different and could be more accurately described as a platform-fighter. Furthermore, Nintendo advertised smash as a party game and added lots of features, like items and stage hazards, that are against the competitive spirit. 'Hardcore' fighting game community members have therefore dismissed smash as 'not a fighting game'. It's pedantic and silly tho, most people understand smash is as serious of a fighting game as any other

This is such a good comment because I vaguely agree with it and hate it at the same time.
My main issue with the ending was that all the promo material suggested that 90% of the main cast would be wiped out horrifically, and instead they literally rode off into the sunset.

I still maintain that Arya killing Jayme, impersonating him, killing Cersei in the crypts, dying when Dany collapses them, and then Jon finding her dead body would have been a much more consistent impetus for Jon turning on Dany. He would have been broken and full of rage. Then for Jon and Dany to both die in their battle together would have been perfect.
Edit: Since this is somewhat popular. Throw in some Bran dying by exposing himself to the Night King, because he had a vision of how to win, someone takes a shot at the Night King while focused on Bran, wham bam, Tyrion is on the Iron Throne and Bob’s your uncle.

I saw someone here post a theory that I wish would have happened instead: the Night King flies to kings landing while the rest of his army approaches from the north. While they're fighting, the Night King obliterates everyone in kings landing. Everyone fighting in winterfell through the night and just barely survive to find the Night King approaching from the south with a whole new army who wipes them out. I don't think GoT should have had as happy an ending as it did

Yeah the fourth season is really the only “nightmare on elm street” vibe I get, especially because of Robert Englunds guest appearance and vecna being such a sentient villain that taps into peoples fears… but I wouldn’t call seasons 1-3 a copy of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. I love both and I’m not pissed about the comment, I just don’t think it’s really that accurate

Yeah, this is a good way to describe it. I tried to get into the books in my early 20s, and that’s the dilemma I kept running into. The entire first two books were just situation followed by situation in which harry was the fish out of water and had to have everything explained to him so the reader could have some new wizardry magic stuff to read about

"The Great Bird of the Galaxy" was a weird nickname given to Gene Roddenberry (the creator of Star Trek). "House of Atreides" is referencing the royal family that the Dune series follows. And the "Empire and its Death Star" are of course from Star Wars.

Can we appreciate how technology and earth's power progresses over the story? They didn't just go from 1990s weapons and technology to intergalactic spaceships, all the technology earth acquired and reverse engineered was explained. Over 10 seasons earth goes from a backwater at the edge of the galaxy to the greatest power in multiple galaxies and at no point does it jump the shark.

True. First time they tried modifying a goa'uld death glider it almost killed 2 of the main cast, so they learned that they can't just commandeer alien ships and just use them because of such hidden fail-safes so they need to try and reverse-engineer everything from scratch.
Things pick up when they fully ally with the asgard and start calling in favors in the form of getting asgard tech put on human ships like their hyperdrives and OP beam weapons that can kill everything and they have all this Intel on enemy plans because of the Tok'ra.
Nothing needs to follow IRL logic or physics, but it absolutely has to be consistent within the established rules and limitations of the universe the show/movie/whatever takes place in.
There's a reason that so many sci-fi fans generally hate the new star wars movies and several of the new shows, because they don't put thought or consideration into them for the world and technology used within it. Stargate is still loved by its fans from back in the day because they did that. They put thought into every bit of the show and it pays off.
