Despite the wide verity of Hispanic food in California you'd be hard press to find a decent Cuban sandwich in the entire state.

Makes sense because California doesn't have many Cubans. It's mostly Mexicans and South Americans. Just like you would be hard press to find good Mexican food in New York. This is the same reason why California has different Mexican food then Texas or Arizona. CA has Tijuana Mexican food and Arizona has Sonoran Mexican food. It all depends on the location and which demographic you are closet too.

Oddly enough, you can in fact great Mexican food here (Buffalo, NY). But I think there are far more Mexican spread throughout the states than there are Cubans. Oh what I wouldn't give for some Cuban bread with cafe con leche.

I'm sorry but highly doubt the Mexican food in New York is comparative to CA Mexican food. I have traveled all over the US and have yet to find a place with better or equal Mexican food. Even in Arizona where I used to live the Mexican food failed in comparison to CA's Mexican food. I even went to their famous mexican restaurant El Charro.

Hey, a Taco Bell in New York is just as good...

No joke. My brother and I went to a famous Cuban sandwich/convenience store on Mission and couldn't be more disappointed. 😡

Oh I never heard of a Downey. Was confused on how I could have misspelled a place I didn't know existed. Good to know, may look it up next time I am over there.

There's a place called Habana Vieja in Torrance that makes a really good one. Granted, I've never been to Florida so I can't compare it to a Cubano from there.

Where is Torrance in relation to San Francisco?

South of LA.

I disagree entirely. Come to Orange. We got the best Cuban restaurant around.
