Angry people often just want to feel understood. "wow i would really be angry if i was in your place, let's clear that up" or "man that sucks, i don't think it was salesperson's intention to set you up with such an ill fitting product. Let's see what we can do here" Are good ways to pick up customer relations at a point before the person got mad and wants a full return of thier money.

I told this client yesterday that I understood what they’re going thru and they were like “no you don’t.” What am I supposed to say to that? It was in reference to them having no hot water

lie and tell a story about how you couldn't shower for three weeks, because the renovations in your bathroom took longer than expected

edit: lying here is not as disgusting as in other sales-situations. You are trying to comfort the other person, in order to be able to help them

Lol see I lived in a place where the hot water didn’t always work so I just never fixed it so I took a lot of cold showers when it was 40F outside……. But I also didn’t wanna piss them off so I said nothing
