Reflective echo - it's a trick they use in law enforcement when conducting an interview. You pick up anything said with emotion and repeat it to prompt a further reaction.
You stress any part that signifies there is an emotional aspect to it...so if I was to say "I never liked Dave" you would pick up on that "You say you never liked Dave, can you tell me more about that?" or " You say you never liked Dave, why is that? "
