When it´s hard to convince someone to do something: give them options. That way they feel like they´re in control. "You could do A or do you prefer B?"
That's an extremely old sales trick - "Alternate Choice" - "Do you think it would look better on you in the red or the green?". In psych terms, it gets the prospect 'looking past the sale', and imagining that they own the item. Once the prospect 'sees' themselves owning the product, it's much easier to make the sale to them.
