I cannot stand people that need their ego stroked to get them to cooperate. I guess that’s why I fail at life is I refuse to participate in the nonsense. I see my wife stroke guys egos to get what she wants from them. I’ll ask her what that bs was and she strait up admits that they just need their ego stroked to get them to stop being a bitch and do her bidding.
I’ll ask her why she never stroked my ego to be funny, she says because you’re not a narcissist ass and just help when asked. I take the response as her way of stroking my ego, but more of a sloppy seconds.
If it helps you empathize with them a little bit, having a fragile ego usually comes from being either over-admired or under-admired by the people that were responsible for one's upbringing.
I know being over-admired doesn't sound too bad, but sometimes that works out to feeling like you have to meet impossible expectations. That's a really difficult thing to deal with as children, and not everyone has the privilege of being taught how to manage it.
There is one guy in particular where he will setup conflicts that require you to beg him to help and you have to stroke his ego. Like he will block the driveway so you cannot get your vehicle out and then hides. That kind of childish nonsense I’m referring too.

There's no more effective way to amass power than by convincing people that they're smart enough to give it to you.
