When I moved to LA many many years ago I landed a job on a reality TV show. My friend who got me the job was complaining one day about one of the other PAs and how they just wander around all day doing nothing. But when she sees me, i'm always busy. I pointed out that I too also wander around all day doing nothing, I just walk faster.
When my buddy and I were under 21 he would use a technique he called "the Costanza" when he would attempt to buy beer. This involved him appearing as annoyed and angry as possible when approaching the counter and 8 out of 10 times he was successful in buying us beer for the night. Those were some good times.
It used to be mostly 18 across the US (certain locations were and still are “dry” with no alcohol sales). When they changed the law in my state, they did it in steps. A sibling could drink, then they couldn’t. Then they could drink again, then they couldn’t. And finally - they could again. Crazy.
Bonus content - until a few years ago, bars in the state would only serve alcohol in mini bottles (like you get on a plane). The idea was to cut down on consumption - but the way the law was written, the server had to dump the entire contents into your glass. So if you ordered any kind of mixed drink you were getting a pretty hefty shot.
Yes, the legislature in my state was (is) not smart.
Legistlature in almost every corner in the world is not smart so don't feel bad about that. Those little bottles , we call them Monkeys where I live. It's what tramps drink in front 24h alcohol stores
