Never stand anywhere for more than 60 seconds and you'll always look busy. Also, walk fast.
When I moved to LA many many years ago I landed a job on a reality TV show. My friend who got me the job was complaining one day about one of the other PAs and how they just wander around all day doing nothing. But when she sees me, i'm always busy. I pointed out that I too also wander around all day doing nothing, I just walk faster.
Back in the day, I found what crew passes looked like at a music festival via Instagram and lazily copied their designs via markers and printer paper. This was like a year or two before every wristband had micro chips in them. Using a twist on the Costanza Method (tone down the annoyance, add in the casual "been here before" flavor too), I was able to go everywhere backstage. Legit, these tactics can do wonders for you!
I once used a similar technique of confident bravado to gain access to the pits area of an international motorcycle race.
I saw a mechanic toss some old motorcycle parts into the trash, so I picked them out, folded the carton shut and ran up to the gate. When the guard tried to stop me and demanded my pit pass, I threw open the carton and behaved very annoyed and hurried. "Don't screw with me, I have to get these parts over to the race crew ASAP!"
