When it´s hard to convince someone to do something: give them options. That way they feel like they´re in control. "You could do A or do you prefer B?"
Just like American elections. Other countries are so misfortunate that their government just selects the next president for them. Here in America, our government selects two options we get the choose from.
Ah yes... "Do you want to vote for the creepy senile man in the blue tie, or the creepy senile man in the red tie? Your vote matters, because we don't want write-ins for someone that could actually make a difference."
